Self assessment deadline extension

 


The UK self assessment tax return filing deadline for 2020/21 has been extended by a month to the end of February 22 with all payments being required by 1 April 2022.

Late filing penalties will be waived for one month.

HMRC took this decision due to the Covid-19 pandemic putting additional pressures on to taxpayers. It is expected that 12.2m taxpayers will need to submit a self assessment tax return with currently only about 50% of these returns having been submitted.
